Community

Our team is committed to delivering positive social value to local communities in Birmingham and the West Midlands.

We see fantastic opportunities to deliver social value by focusing on community engagement and showcasing career opportunities in our growing and vibrant sector. We will support local people and businesses to enable them to access local jobs and opportunities.

Engagement days and local education providers

With major projects such as High Speed Two, investment in housing and the strong pipeline of infrastructure projects, the industry represents a huge opportunity for employment. However, fewer than one in ten young people would consider a career in construction. We aim to encourage new entrants and career changers into the sector by regularly engaging with local schools, colleges and attending career fairs to promote the diverse and exciting range of career opportunities available. Our approach is tailored to suit the event and can be done virtually, at a location of your choice or from our Hub. For a complete experience and access to our full range of training resources and simulators, we highly recommend visiting our Hub

Local people, local jobs

High Speed 2 is expected to create around 15,000 jobs over the lifetime of the project. This coupled with city redevelopment funds and other available funding sources provides local people in Birmingham and the West Midlands with the opportunity to re-train, upskill or start a career in construction.

Charity partners

The Operator Skills Hub is keen to support local charities by offering work and training opportunities to individuals. The team can also support fundraising opportunities or host events.

We would welcome the opportunity to work with Birmingham based charities who require support for their next charity event or community project.
